Is it true what they say about thunder in winter?

The old wives tale says if it thunders in the winter you can expect snow within 10 days. So is it true? We'll see. It's thundering pretty loudly here right now. Snow in Louisiana is pretty unlikely, but then again it has snowed here the last 2 years in a row. (BOOM! Thunder sounds loudly behind me as I type this.)

Follow up: Apparently this old wives tale is busted. No snow this winter and one of the driest on record in our area.

    1. Thank you. I don't know about forums about old wives tales but this page has some discussion on weather related sayings and such.
